The recognition of people and animals is similar in its technical requirements. People wear clothes that differ in color and material, animals can have short or long fur or even feathers or are wet or dirty.
In this case, triangulation technology offers a solution that combines a variety of technical services. Triangulation technology allows the detection of objects regardless of their color, material and surface structure.
The sensor's transmitter and receiver are housed together in a single package. The emitting diode emits light that is diffusely reflected from the surface and then received by the receiving element in the sensor. Based on the changes in the angle of the received light beam, which depends on the distance between the sensor and the object, the distance is determined. The sensor turns ON/OFF depending on the measured distance, rather than the amount of light received, as this varies depending on the color, texture or structure of the object being detected.
Triangulation technology has been implemented by Panasonic in 3 different product series. Depending on the type of application, each series offers certain advantages in terms of range and sensor size. The EQ-500 is a universal type with a range of up to 2.5 meters. For applications requiring a compact sensor, the EQ-30 series with dimensions of 68 x 40 x 20 mm is the optimal solution. The CX-400 series is recommended where background suppression is required.
Comprehensive solutions can be realized with a combination of sensors and automation technology from Panasonic. For example, the statistical information collected by the sensors about customer flows in stores or fast food chains, together with exact date and time information, can be transmitted via the Internet to a central control station for evaluation, which can then be used to make strategic decisions based on facts. |
